What is The Real World App?

The Real World app is the purpose-built platform carrying all 9 campuses, the daily lessons, live mentor sessions, and the worldwide community. It took over from the original Discord community Hustlers University ran before the 2022 deplatforming.

Owning the infrastructure is a core strategic edge. Because the whole application stack is self-owned — no Discord, no Telegram, no third-party host — deplatforming The Real World isn't possible. App, payments, hosting, community infrastructure — every layer sits under direct control.

The downloads themselves are free. Actual access to courses and community still requires the $99/month membership. Open the app without a subscription and the login screen is all you'll see.

How to Sign In

Signing in works identically everywhere:

1. Open The Real World app (or visit app.jointherealworld.com)
2. Type in the email you used to sign up
3. Enter your password
4. Click Sign In

If you have not yet subscribed, the app prompts you to complete checkout before granting access. If you have subscribed but cannot log in, jump to the troubleshooting section below or open our login troubleshooting guide.

App Features and Sections

Inside, the app breaks into a few core sections:

• Campuses: the 9 dedicated learning environments. Every campus carries its own video lessons, chat channels, and live sessions.
• Live Calls: Schedule and join daily live training sessions led by mentors.
• Chat: a general cross-campus room, plus per-campus channels for questions, accountability, and wins.
• Announcements: word from the founder, co-founder, and the ops team.
• Wins: member results and progress posts. Encourages community accountability.
• Profile / Settings: account controls, subscription, and notification preferences.

Navigation behaves the same whether you're on mobile or desktop. The mobile build is tuned for chat, notifications, and quick lesson hits. Deep lesson work and content production run better on desktop and web.

Cross-Device Sync

Account state syncs live across every device you sign into. This means:

• laptop lesson progress continues on the phone
• a chat read on one device reads everywhere
• Account changes apply universally
• Live session attendance is tracked across platforms

Most members use a hybrid pattern: phone for daily community chat and notifications, laptop for deep lesson work and any creative output (writing copy, building stores, designing content).

Mobile vs Desktop: Which to Use

It depends on your campus and the task at hand:

• Mobile is best for: daily chat engagement, attending live sessions on the go, quick lesson watching, posting wins and accountability check-ins, browsing announcements during downtime.
• Desktop is best for: deep lesson work, writing real copy or content, building stores or AI agents, genuine client outreach, serious note-taking.

Mobile-only members drift into passive consumption and rarely ship anything. Desktop-only members lose the community pressure that keeps people accountable. Use both for best results.

Push Notifications

Pushes fire for:

• live session start times
• Direct mentions in chat
• Major announcements from the founder or operations
• Account / billing alerts

Notifications can be customized per category in Settings. The common setup: live-session reminders ON, chat mentions ON, general announcements OFF. How deep you want to sit in real-time community activity dictates the right settings.

Common Login and App Issues

"Forgot password" — what to do: hit "Forgot Password" on the login screen. Enter your email. Watch your inbox (spam folder included) for the reset email. Follow the link and set a fresh password. No email inside 5 minutes usually means that address isn't tied to an active account.

App keeps crashing: force-quit it, reboot the device, and confirm you're on the newest App Store or Play Store build. Mobile problems that won't clear? Load the web version at app.jointherealworld.com to confirm whether the issue is app-specific.

Cannot find a campus: verify your paid subscription is active. Subscribed but campuses missing? Log out, then back in. Still stuck? Write to support@jointherealworld.com.

Billing issues: Contact support directly. Never jump straight to a chargeback — resolve with support first, since disputes can get an account suspended.

Privacy and Security

The app touches only standard subscription data — email, payment details, account history. Messaging happens member-to-member and never leaves the platform. the founder has repeatedly framed the platform's privacy infrastructure as a strategic priority in public statements.

Standard security recommendations apply:

• Use a strong unique password for your Real World account
• Enable 2-factor authentication if available in your account settings
• Do not share login credentials with anyone — accounts are individual
• Be cautious about anyone DM-ing you claiming to be a mentor — mentors typically engage in public chat channels, not unsolicited DMs

System Requirements for The Real World App

Any standard modern device handles it. Specific requirements:

• iOS: iOS 14 is the floor. Runs on iPhone 7 up, and every current iPad.
• Android: needs Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer. Phones from 2018 onward generally qualify.
• macOS: Mojave (10.14) or newer. Runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon.
• Windows: Windows 10 or 11. Earlier Windows builds sit outside official support.
• Web browser: current Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Legacy browsers may render the app incorrectly.

On aging hardware, the web version at app.jointherealworld.com usually still runs even where the native apps won't install. Keep the browser version as your fallback.

Storage and Data Usage

The app stays fairly light:

• Initial app download: roughly 50-80MB on mobile
• Streaming lesson video: Uses approximately 200-500MB per hour depending on quality
• Live session attendance: Approximately 100-300MB per hour live
• Chat usage: Minimal data — chat is text-based, low bandwidth

If you have limited mobile data, consider attending lessons over WiFi and using chat-only mode while on cellular. Most lessons also ship as audio-only, which slashes bandwidth use.

Notification Strategy for Different Member Types

With everything switched on, push notifications drown you. Recommended configurations:

• New members (first 30 days): switch on live-session reminders, campus announcements, and direct mentions. Leave general platform announcements and the wins channel off.
• Active members (30-180 days): Enable live session reminders, campus chat mentions, important mentor announcements. Reduce general activity notifications.
• Veteran members (180+ days): Customize tightly — only notifications for direct mentions, mentor messages, and your accountability group.
• Members focused on deep work: switch on Do Not Disturb during work blocks. Open the app only at times you've scheduled.

Immersion is a deliberate design choice here. Leave every notification on and the app becomes a distraction machine instead of a tool.
